July 26 - August 1, 2026
Invitation
Dear Friends in Canada & across the world,
Following the successful conclusion of the 5th World Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Culture Week in 2025, the Canada Traditional Chinese Medicine Development Alliance (CTCMDA), the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department in the Faculty of Health at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and the Home of Canadian Chinese Traditional Medicine Society, in collaboration with the Canadian Community Service Association, the Canton Chamber of Commerce Canada, and the North America Chinese Culture Promotion Society, will proudly present the 6th World Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Week (WTCMAW) from July 26 to August 1, 2026.
The Opening Ceremony and TCM Market Exhibitions will be held at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Richmond Campus and Burnaby Central Park Stadium. The program will feature multicultural performances incorporating TCM elements, together with approximately 100 exhibition booths organized across eight themed TCM zones. This week-long event, delivered through both in-person and online programming, is expected to attract more than 100,000 participants. It will also receive coverage or livestreaming from numerous media outlets in Canada and around the world, with the World Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Week digital media platform expected to reach millions of viewers globally.
This year’s overarching theme, “TCM in a New Era – Globalization, AI Innovation, and TCM Market Engagement,” is expressed through three interconnected pillars that reflect both the global advancement of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its growing role within Canadian communities:
TCM Globalization: from “reaching out” to building enduring collaborations
TCM AI Innovation: from computation to intelligent augmentation
TCM Market Engagement: promoting the benefits of TCM and showcasing local services
The event will bring together TCM experts and enthusiasts from around the world to create a platform for academic exchange and industry collaboration. Through the innovative inclusion of the TCM Market Exhibitions, members of the public will also have the opportunity to engage directly with local community healthcare providers and gain a deeper understanding of the services and benefits offered by Traditional Chinese Medicine. Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture have become an integral part of global healthcare, with proven clinical value in preventive care, treatment, rehabilitation, and overall wellness. As the number of healthcare practitioners specializing in Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture continues to grow, expanding their benefits to patients and healthcare systems worldwide, advancing the development of an international TCM and acupuncture service framework, and promoting open exchange, integration, and innovation across broader fields, higher levels, and deeper dimensions have become defining priorities for today’s healthcare administrators, TCM practitioners, and global advocates of TCM.
Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture not only promote international cultural exchange and deepen mutual understanding among communities but also carry the important responsibility of safeguarding global health and contributing to medical and wellness initiatives. The Canadian Traditional Chinese Medicine Development Alliance and the Home of Canadian Chinese Traditional Medicine Society have successfully organized the World Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Culture Week for five consecutive years. These events have reached TCM communities and the public worldwide, generated far-reaching impact, earned broad acclaim, and received high-level recognition and support from the Government of British Columbia, Canada. The 3rd (2023), 4th (2024), and 5th (2025) Culture Weeks were officially recognized as statutory “BC TCM and Acupuncture Weeks” by the BC government, underscoring the significant international standing of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
